Music Education, Tutoring, and Mentoring Program

Mission

Our aim is to provide guidance to the youth in music and other areas thus allowing them to constantly achieve in any field they choose.

 

Overview

Areas of focus will include:

 

  • General Studies

  • Music Theory

  • Music Breakout Sessions with specialists

 

Breakdown of Breakout Sessions

 

Music Performance

 

This includes instruction in different aspects of music performance as well as genres on multiple instruments. 

 

  • “Live Stage Music” 

Genre Focus: R&B, Jazz, Pop, Hip Hop, Gospel, Rock, Country etc…

Instruments: Keyboards, Bass, Guitar, Drums, Brass, Woodwinds, Auxiliary Percussion, Vocal Performance

 

  • “Classical Music”

Ensemble Focus: Orchestral, Wind Symphony, Concert Band, Instrument Specific Small Ensembles, Solo Pieces

Instruments: All Brass, All Woodwinds, All Percussion

 

  • “Marching Band”

Technique Focus: Playing Style- Marches, Ballads, Parade Tunes, Drill Tunes. 

Marching Techniques, Body Conditioning.

 

Music Production/Engineering

 

  • Navigation of DAWs

  • Equipment Setup

  • Common Production Practices

  • Session Engineering Techniques

  • Post Production Procedures

  • Mixing

  • Mastering

 

DJing Techniques

 

  • Equipment Setup and Maintenance

  • Track Selection

  • Eq Mixing

  • Transitions

  • Knowledge of Key and Tempo 

  • Phasing


 

General Studies

The areas of focus are Math, Science, English Language Arts, and Social Studies. Educators in the Fraternity will assist or directly outsource for educators to tutor in each discipline. 

 

Mentoring 

Brothers of all ages will participate in guiding youth in navigation of everyday life obstacles. Areas of focus will be:

  • Setting Personal Goals

  • Planning and creating winning routines 

  • Financial Literacy

  • Mental and Emotional Health awareness. 

  • Family Life (the role of the husband and father)

  • Community Support (How can we affect change)
